changing their shape to beam + follow velocity isnt cutting the deal for
you?
if they're almost default, you can even do viewport capture...
you wouldnt believe the things I did this way, with hardly any rendertime at
all.

Subject: particle motion blur
Does anyone remember back when Particle was a standalone, it had a
really inexpensive way of doing motion blur which involved stretching
each particle in its direction of travel?
Is there any way to get that sort of inexpensive particle rendering
functionality nowadays? I've got some really simple, almost default
particles that I need motion blur on and the mental ray MB render times
are killing me.
Thanks!
