What´s far worse than my personal journey through
Vis(t)a land is that "hotmail" refuses to deliver mails
from my freelance/company domain due to one of
the following reasons (quote):
"Your e-mail was rejected for policy reasons on this
gateway. Reasons for rejection may be related to
content such as obscene language, graphics, or
spam-like characteristics (or) other reputation problems"
Unfortunately, they don´t provide any other
contactinfo than http://postmaster.msn.com
If I ever recover from going through the roof
I may eventually track down the guy who´s
elligible to remove that stupid checkmark
next to "hafenlola.com" some other bloke
may have set for whatever reason.
Nobody asked me...the owner.
Cheers
tim

Hi Tim,
Sorry to hear it went so badly - hopefully it'll be useful for someone
here (though lucky for me it just serves me as a reminder).
If you want to have a play with something flashy that won't kill your
machine check out http://www.sabayonlinux.org ;)
I'll now just sit here and absorb the chiding from the list.
Cheers,
Alan.

I´ve earned the golden Guinea pig status now.
The 25-30% CPU usage (on below Core2Quad 2,4GHz)
was most likely due to the Sidebar still active althought it´s
more or less useless with the "windows classic" design.
Deactivating that gives a pretty idle CPU, the memory
footprint is still at around 1 GB Ram. I´ve installed 64bit
XSI 6.02 for a testdrive, it starts and behave normally.
Yet, I´ve decided to downgrade my Vista64 business
license to a XP64 pro license. Mostly for the snappier
feel and less clutter XP64 imho has in direct comparison
when using a classic windows mode. It also just blocks
about 275 MB RAM in idle mode, I´ll prefer to use
the ~768 MB difference for yet another ZBrush level :-)
Cheers
tim
P.S: The bootup time of Vista64 is horrible on my PC
and my nerves, probably a user error not covered by UAC.
(I am very glad UAC had been no integral part of XP64...)
