shrink wrap question

Subject : shrink wrap question

Hi All, If you shrink wrap an object, for example a cube, onto a grid, it gets squashed completely flat. Is there a way around this? ie. I want my cube to deform onto the grid (poly) in a shrink wrap stylie, but I'd like the vertical height of the points to remain relative to each other. Any thoughts? Thanks Chris
