Subject : missing features in XSI's implementation of Syflex

Hi XSI users,

I just watched the DVD from Digital Tutors about using Syflex for Maya.

I know this has been mentioned on this list before but I don’t remember the outcome.

I realize there are a lot of features missing in the XSI implementation. Is there a reason why it’s like that?

Is it because Syflex LLC. didn’t have time to implement them? Is it because we have to buy a license directly from Syflex LLC to get the full version?

I’m puzzled! We’ve been “killing” ourselves doing cloth workaround in the last year and yet the solutions exist but in another implementation.

Some of these features would be incredibly useful in day to day cloth sims (Wrinkle map, Attenuation and the Live mode…etc)

I just sent an email to Gerard from Syflex. We’ll see what he answers back. I’m curious.

Here’s some of what XSI users are missing…

1- Syflex Live Mode!

2- Syflex INFO command

3- Inital state ->"set from mesh"

4- Wrinkle map

5- Attenuation

6- Magnet force

7- Syflex HAIR (which can also be used to create ropes)

8- Self envelope (I imagine this is Self collide in XSI) Why is it in a different operator in XSI?

9- Self Damp (nowhere to be found in XSI)

10- Self Friction, Self side

11- Reusing Gravity node (say I have two object I want them to use the same gravity parameter)

12- Show envelope in viewports, Show springs in viewports, Show stress

I would like to understand how is it possible for us to have access to these features without having to change our main 3D software.

Thank you,
