well, i think.....to"...move things in a different direction..." would have
been appreciated ...
but this one doesn't try that (i might be wrong), but from
this trailer no "different" direction is guessable.....
anyway......i think i'll have to go and see real
animation tonight........SIMPSONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >
DOH!

Cartoons don't look real but we enjoy them and we believe the characters. Who made the law that cgi has to look other-worldly or photo-real with no in-between? Personally I think it looks great, the similarity to a game cut scene needn't be a negative connotation and if the visuals are consistently high quality and carry the storyline then I think it could be considered a success. Restricting the evolution of cg to "what it's best at" seems like a medieval attitude. There are plenty of films with these actors in already and I applaud the effort to move things in a different direction, nothwithstanding a desperate non-desire to see a fat 50 year old Ray Winstone walking around semi-nude, thankyou very much.
