Hello

mental ray is one example as it requires MSVC++ v7.0 (2003) or later to compile shaders for use with the renderer.

Strange since you can even compil MR shaders with ming (devc++) see http://animatic.no-ip.com/pub/dev/xsi/Mentalray_shader_DLL_Template.zip
I think MR can be simple C not necessary c++ so i believe any gnu c compiler will do it.

As more applications move towards 64-bit computing, MSVC++ 6.0 will become obsolete.

Subject: Beginning C++ Plugin Development

Hello

I have been writing scripts using Jscript and will be switching to developing plugins in C++. I am experienced with Visual C++ 6 although documentation says I should use .NET 2003 (or 2005). Does anyone have any recommendations as to which program I should be using? (I am using XSI 6.02)
Thank you in advance.
