Throwing out the obvious. Have you tried spots instead of infinites just to test? Is the building really huge or really tiny?

Not tiny, neither huge, maybe 1-200 units across. Nope, haven't tried spots. I need the inf to simulate the sun...

no you dont...
move the infinite to the center of the object
convert it to spot or point, and move along local z axis.
the further you move it, the better it will match an infinite light.
but with the advantage of soft shadows - make a small area light (disc) out of it, it'll look better.
For the key light I allmost allways end up using a spot or point rather than infinite.

now for your dark spot,

if you turn off shadows in the render region does the dark spot still apear?

is your FG map set to rebuild, add points or to only use file?
If you previewed from another view to build the map, and then render using the file from disk, anything that was not in the view the first time would show up as black...

Also try to put a strong white point light at the camera's position and render with that. if all else goes white but this dark zone remains, the problem is not in the lights, but more likely in the textures.
...
