im really interested in the
sony luma monitors.
http://bssc.sel.sony.com/BroadcastandBusiness/DisplayModel?m=10007&p=8&sp=20131&id=87825&navid=luma_sony_professional_lcd_monitors
the dell is great, but im kind of getting tired of having almost
accurate colours.
i guess seeing as sony killed off thier trinitrons these are expected to take
their place?
has anyone had any experience with these?

Not weird at all.
Btw Kris, my 30 doesn't take up two DVI ports. Dual-Link DVI is different even
though it sounds as if it uses both. It's a slightly different port. I agree
that two 24's might be better than one 30 but IMO it depends on what you work
with. I work with HD video a lot, so 1920x1080 barely fits onto a 24" but
with a 30 I can look at my content at 100% and still have full on tool pallets
around the whole screen. That to me was worth the extra cash. Maybe not for
everyone though.

Does
working with a wide aspect ratio monitor cause any issues with the gui's of any
apps you use......or does it just seem odd to work with say XSI stretched wide
like that?

I personally love the Dell 24 inch.
I was going to purchase one 30 inch but for the same price, you get two
24s. The 30 inch has a higher resolution but will consume both your DVI
outs (if you even have that) and I don't think the extra resolution is
necessary. The 24s at 1920 x 1200 seem to be a great balance of screen
size and resolution and you can't beat it for the price. Picture quality
is fantastic and monitor is well built and sturdy.

shopping around for an additional screen,
Anyone using
Dell 24 / 30" screens? If so are they upto task? Specificly black levels /
banding? (more so on the 30", as the laptop has dual link dvi on it…may as
well use it)
Cheers
