I´ve just bought the Dell 24" for homeuse, had it doublechecked for pixelerrors, as they are Class II by default afaik, meaning you could get one delivered that has up to three subpixels ill allready. Most Dell resellers offer this pixeltest as an extra, expensive service.
I´m running it on both SubD and DVI for about six weeks now, sofar it is very pleasing compared to the 21" Sony CRT I had before.
In comparison to the last Sony 23" TFT´s, Apple 23" TFT´s and all those results seen on Class I broadcast monitors I would personally say my Dell is great for day to day use when keeping in mind it comes with a slightly harsh contrast.
It´s also quite blindingly bright by default, I´d prefer to work at a certified/eye pleasing 100 Candela and contrast synced to it.
A plus is the phletora of input connections the Dell offers, I´m sure it´ll make a great TV set, _it is fun to play games with it and if you reduce the brightness it´s ok to work on it.
If I had to ensure better colorcalibration (the colors are good allready, it´s the gamma and brightness that may vary a bit) I´d go for a Spyder kit (starting at ~80 Euros).
If I where to open a shop I´d buy a batch of Eizo 24" TFT, also because most agency folks link the name with print proof...
Cheers
tim

All the big suites still have a CRT grade 1 for reference (whether they're lined up properly is another question). Are there LCD replacements for grade ones yet?

Do you guys still use Trinitron CRTs as grade ones Andi or has TV migrated to LCD too?

All the flame monitors here are the 24' eizo's and luckily i bagged one for my workstation, and the blacks are much much better than the 24 'dell i was using. Yes they are a grand each but so was the good 4*3 sony.
when i'm rich i'll have one at home!!

I am on one of those old Sony Trinitron monitors here and it's pretty pretty good. I don't know if you can still buy them though. For LCD I've seen a few Eizos that look very good but I still prefer CRT.

i knew you would come at me for this one kim......
BUT what i mean is.....whatever i see on my eizo comes out just like that on the reference monitors and in television..... no loss or bad surprise when it's being aired,
is that true enough?
