weird lines in my Hair render

Subject : weird lines in my Hair render
Sorry if this has come up in a previous posting but I'm getting weird lines in my renders at render time.
The only geo in the scene is a deformed grid with a LOTT of  hair (grass) coming off it... and a camera flying thru the mass.

Is this a hair specific issue? (I'm rendering a LOT right now... about 800,000 strands or so at HD res)
