You should be able to do so, with Guillaume Laforge's v2nMaskOp plug in. (Thanks again, Guillaume for that! ).

I could'nt find it on his blog... I hope it's ok I attach it. (throw it in your plugin folder, and find it, under the <Deform> menu)

Basically you add this Op after the Lattice Op, and it will bring wight-painted areas, back to what they
were, before deformation. (you'll have to specify which weightmap to use)

anyone know of any workaround to get a latticeOp deform be modulated by a
weightmap?
