Good stuff to know!
Ah good to know, weird though. I'm glad it wasn't the cache at least.

Hey Vince
I just talked to Dade who was setting up the softbodies for the spot... and I think he figured that the geometry approximation subdivision he was doing on top of the softbody sim was breaking it.
My bad.... I guess there isn't too big an issue over the farm as such then.
Thanks for the help though... it's something I never tried out until very recently and it seems pretty nifty actually.
Cheers again !!On 8/19/07, Vince Fortin < vfortin(at)gmail.com> wrote:
SBDs are very old but still useful sometimes. Maybe with moondust we'll have the kind of control you describe. Can you be more specific about the problems you're having? I might be able to do some testing.

I had issues over the farm with this 'internal' caching though.
Kinda got by by using point-caching for now; but it seems like it would be nice to be able to cache an initial state, or be able to offset the animation by such vague methods like re-numbering the cache files etc.

AFAIK It's cached into memory until you save the scene. Then it's written to the scene file itself, nothing less.
Recently I found out that when using reference models the cache is not saved with the scene file. Seems like a nice feature for me :-)

Hey all
Actually I'm posting for someone else who was wondering where XSI stores the softbody simulations... is it stored nternally in the scene or some hidden cache on the box?
Thanks!
Ajit
