I can see the benefits, but it seems overly involved, and massively clunky in it's present guise.

I can't help thinking that it could be streamlined quite simply, and maybe add a spread-sheet style view of the rendering globals/pass locals as a quick overview and edit point. Love some of it, hate some of it.

Kind of a bit 'meh' really...

Give it some time....you'll love it...trust me.  I was frustrated for a week or two as well but now I can't live without it.  I HATE having to work in anything below v6 now.

Write a script to set your filenames. I did this a lot before 6.x. Use the FSO (in VBScript) to create directories too! I set up my script to use my scene name as a variable and build the whole thing from that. It also created the passes and set my default settings in each...
