camera_expander.js by Kim Aldis got me close enough. (Aldis, 17 October 2006, Subject: Re: re- render 4:3 on 16:9)
I´d have prefered to "simply" have a new camera created based on the settings interactively set when having "PixelZoom" for the viewport enabled.
Actually, I don´t understand why those actual settings aren´t exposed as it would really ease working with cameras and nudging results into the "still renderable" reagion.
I´ll log a feature request for having that artist/client friendly.
Thanks for the replies,
Cheers

Subject: "cropping" the camera to a new aspectratio
Hi guys,
this topic has come up before but I can´t find the corresponding threats so please excuse the repetition.
I have a stitched backroundplate, 5:4 aspectration, roughly 12500x10000px to which I have aligned an XSI camera (~90%there due to the stitching). Using lensshift.
Now I´d like to "zoom" the camera offcenter onto a square area to get additional headroom for the rendering, e.g. being able to render that region in something like 8K without having to create a ~25000x20000px framebuffer using the Passes>Crop (to selection) option.
I remember a tool or script that would let you "zoom" in or out off a plate, giving you the corresponding focallengths, I think it´s main purpose was to get overscan area for motion blur calculations, I guess that´s what I could use.
Anyone got more info or tips on this?
Cheers
tim
P.S: Basically, I´m trying to use "PixelZoom" of Rotoscopy in a fullblown render to get a higher resolution render with identical perspective distortion while "cropping" away the now useless area of the framebuffer.
