Subject : MI Generation of files
Hello,

I've sent this to support, but I though I'd sent to the list as well
to see what other people do.

I have a question which might be licensing question. I haven't tried
it yet, so I figured I'll ask before starting to code.

We have a MI based renderfarm, and we have it working fine with XSI
too now. So we are now trying to adjust our tools so that they work
the same way as when we use Maya.
Each renderslave is picking up the scene and generating a MI file for
that frame only, then it starts the render. So MI generation isn't
bound to any licensing.

1.) Would XSI be able to do the same thing? Or would we need licenses
for MI generation?

if no to the above
2.) Or, how many machines can do MI generation from one XSI Essentials?

3.) Is the MI generation license per machine or per thread/CPU?

And I would be happy to hear how other companys are solving it. For
the Maya scenes of opening and translating only takes a few seconds.
But my guess is that it might be a bit slower with XSI... since it
needs to read a XSI database first.

regards
Stefan Andersson
