XPSm1710 is a good one but heavy. At work we have both m65 and m90 (the quadro based xpsm1710 equivalent) systems and I would say that the gap of power doesn't worth the heaviness and the lack of battery life. I would also check out the mac book pro though.

It's a great laptop, runs XSI like a champ.
The best part.... I purchased from the Dell outlet and saved a bundle.Whole thing cost under $2500 with shipping, extended warranty and insurance. Best computer purchase I've ever made!

Hi guys,
Sorry to drag this recurring question up again. I need to get hold of a laptop within the next three weeks and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? I usually tend to go for Dell since I've always found their
PCs to be pretty reliable, and I was having a look at the XPS 1710 - it seems pretty decent. The other question was whether to get it with XP or Vista? My budget is looking to be around £1500, but could stretch up to
£1700.
Initially I'm not going to be using it for 3D work, but this may be a possibility later on so performance is obviously key - as is delivery time as I already mentioned.
Any suggestions?
Thanks :)
Andy
