Did you take a look at the brand new dell xps1730 ?
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/xpsnb_m1730?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs
Seems to be the most powerfull lap ever... The physix chipset is useless for xsi users but the the core2 extreme seems pretty attractive.

Yeah the mac book pro's are nice. I have one and it's bar none the best lappy I've ever used. I'm not sure I would recommend one if you are physically hard on laptops though. I think durability might be it's biggest downer.

XPSm1710 is a good one but heavy. At work we have both m65 and m90 (the quadro based xpsm1710 equivalent)  systems and I would say that the gap of power doesn't worth the heaviness and the lack of battery life.
I would also check out the mac book pro though.

I also have an XPS M1710, 2GB ram, nvidia 7900GT

It's a great laptop, runs XSI like a champ.

The best part.... I purchased from the Dell outlet and saved a bundle.Whole thing cost under $2500 with shipping, extended warranty and insurance. Best computer purchase I've ever made!

Hi guys,

Sorry to drag this recurring question up again. I need to get hold of a
laptop within the next three weeks and I was wondering if anyone had any
recommendations? I usually tend to go for Dell since I've always found their
PCs to be pretty reliable, and I was having a look at the XPS 1710 - it
seems pretty decent. The other question was whether to get it with XP or
Vista? My budget is looking to be around £1500, but could stretch up to
£1700.

Initially I'm not going to be using it for 3D work, but this may be a
possibility later on so performance is obviously key - as is delivery time
as I already mentioned.

Any suggestions?

Thanks :)

Andy
