Using Particle Flow or Thinking particles in conjunction with FumeFX is a bonus. By that I mean that you can already do quite a lot with just the FumeFX plug-in(look at http://www.afterworks.com/FumeFX.asp?ID=13 for animated examples). TP and Particle Flow helps you create more advanced and more controlled fluid simulations. You could for example emit a bunch of particles and set them on fire as they fly through the scene or they could be heat emitters and start a fire once they hit that oil puddle on the ground.

Oh and you can use scripts to further control FumeFX if you need to.

Oh I'm not complaining about Softimage support or anything myself...I was just wishing for later tools. In case they could get those Croatian folks to develop FumeFX for XSI. :)

Can you elaborate a bit more?

I´ve seen the shader/effect and implementation
in a demo for 3DS Max, liked the realtime tuning
using gradients for density and such based on a
pre-calculated cache alot but thought you still need
some sort of powerful particle engine (like "thinking
particles" or such was mentioned) to really get the
FumeFX to not just look nice but also behave so?

Cheers

tim

P.S: Up until now I really can´t complain about
softimage support or any of the other people
related to softimage. Always felt well pampered...

Man, after we get MoonDust guess what's on my list?!!!

Actually, Fluid and hair dynamics. :-)

Anyone played with FumeFX yet? So fast, simple and powerful.

"Company support for single users ...." oh dear.....

ok so it's one guy's opinions, but still interesting that
someone took the time to

actually bother with most of the major packages

we could learn from this....
