Yes - I'm using KDbg which is a frontend to gdb. It doesn't have a
continue option, but it does have run, which does nothing in this
case. Though I may have missed something when looking for it. If I
quit KDbg XSI starts going again though.

When you open the executable (so you can attach it) then it says '(no
debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library
"/lib/libthread_db.so.1".'
