Have been doing this between LW and XSI lately. So can't comment for Maya.
But the cameras coming in from FBX were all wrong.
I found out that certain info is lost during each step of the conversion
(export from LW, FBX format itself and import into XSI)
Turned out that its not just camera settings, but also position and rotation
data which is not coming across precisely.
Actually the importer introduces some rotational offsets, and on the export
side position data was not entirely respected.
So do verify numerically the camera's position and rotation on all axes
first, and get those right before attempting to get a camera match. Dont
trust the export/import to be correct.
Once the camera's were in the exact same pose., getting the correct image
format (image aspect and pixel aspect) and aperture was all that was needed
to get a pixel perfect correspondence - no need to mess with the fov at all,
just set the focal length in mm and the aperture (thats all on the second
tab of the camera!)

Hi All,
Anyone knows how to get correct values from the Maya camera to the XSI
camera? It seems it takes the values from Focal Lenght in maya and
apply it to the "field of view"... strange...
And if I should use FBX... which version should I use when I export
from Maya... any pointers?
regards
