Hey gang, I've been meaning to look into HDRI lighting for a while now
and today I finally did. I'm testing it on a simple sphere sitting on a
grid with a phong material and some slight reflectivity. It's super
easy to use and all that in XSI, but I'm having one small problem with
my render. The problem is when I apply a panoramic .hdr image to my
image based lighting pass and I use cylindrical mapping the refelctions
on the sphere have a big black area at the top in the middle of where
the sky should be reflected. I suppose because the mapping is
cylindrical and the image is rectangular it doesn't map anything above
the cylinder. I tried all the other mapping methods and non of them
work with the reflections correctly. I also tried using the original
'probe' image that I used to create my panoramic .hdr image. No joy
there either.
Can anyone tell me how to get my geo to reflect only sky where the sky
should be in the reflection and not a big black dot?
Cheers,
Karl.
