do you have the array local to a workstation or is it on the network, and do you want the playback on the data monitor or on an external one?

I think the bluefish HD cards come with a playback utility for win/osx that does HD and 2k playback from DPX files (as well as tga) to external monitor. You can get the HDSDI converted into a DVI and plug it on a flatpanel. That's the way I'd go on a budget.

software-only playback from image sequence to desktop, regardless of the storage,  I wouldnt expect this to be RT, but rather "as fast as is".
but who knows, its been a while that I looked into all this.

hey guys, trying to find a SOFTWARE playback system for DPX files,
that DOESN'T cache in ram, we have a HUGE Systems 2Tb array that supports 2k realtime playback
(apparently) but no software to make it happen!

framecycler DDS works but costs a packet due to it being way over-specced (as i say, we ONLY want playback)

prefereably on Linux.....

any ideas?

sorry for the OT
