I'm not a big fan of the render Preview but to my knowledge previewing full-res is the only way to get an accurate Maximum Motion evaluation in the script editor when working with the Motion framebuffer.

Have you looked at imf_disp? it sould be in C:\Softimage\XSI_6.5\Application\bin
