i remember this little mental ray gem, and as i recall it wasn't texture
filtering, there was a magic filtering setup that you can set for the
aliasing and it wouldn't 'filter' your texture....
i'm pretty sure someone on the list provided me with this little nugget,
maybe search the archives?

I need to render out a pass of a footage maped on a grid.
The flame artist has complaints about the footage loosing quallity in
comparisson to the original.
The footage is not going through any shading, it's fed straight to the
surface input of the material.
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a proper AA settings for this
pass,
so it will maintain it's original
quality, and not get too blured or de-grained.
Use a Mitchell filter, perhaps?
