Hmm, I see us creating more and more custom workflows that dramatically boost our performance, which would be impossible without advanced customisation of the software. So our direction is basically the opposite of what you describe. Though that stuff is set up by programmers and TDs, not by our artists.

My point was that these days it's becoming less and less needed by everyday artists because software is so advanced now. That's all. Your comment made it sound like it was a requirement of normal artists these days.

    Honestly I think it's going the other way Kim. In this day and age
    it's almost completely unnecessary for normal users to have to
    script. Back in the day is when you really had to just to get
    simple stuff done. Now we have tools that do everything with a
    click of a button.

    I get your point but I do think it's going the other way. Soon
    we'll have people that don't know anything about 3d or art
    creating Transformers type effects with a few buttons.
