Massive uses AMC/ASF motioncapture a lot - and using Motionbuilder here to retarget, we found that there are issues with ASF skeleton files from Motionbuilder - mostly to do with the fact that Masssive has no roots or effectors in it's skeleton structures - so we had interesting DOF problems, which required some fiddling around and discussion with Autodesk support, who BTW are not up to par with Softimage support - we kind of got, "we know there is a big problem with asf support in MB, but since you have found a workaround, even though it is difficult and tricky, we are closing this support request"

Anyway - yes we did get stuff out of XSI into MB, and then on into Massive - and it is possible - BTW I am using Jordi's script to convert cameras to Massive - works great all except for it forgets to transfer the pixel aspect!!!!! We also wrote a few tools to convert in and out of XSI, Maya, Houdini, Massive and Flame.

How about the pipeline?

Ideally, endorphin, massive and behaviour could be
mixed, meshes, rigs and animation shared or re-used.

Maybe using motionbuilder as an interchange plattform.

I don´t want to bitch about prices in the $20 000 league
but would say that an average commercial usually wouldn´t
allow for the R&D cycles required to set-up an artdirectable
pipeline but instead would ideally be tackled with off-the-shelf
products like Massive JET plus some Agent Libaries, for crowds
in the 2-250 heads range or better said, uncountable screen fillers?

In a one-two week turnaround cycle including revisions one has
to default to pre-build-ready-to-use stuff that´s known to work, right?

No experiments but industrial level 75% quality guaranteed allready?

Cheers
