I couldn't reproduce this... flags are working fine. im using 6.5..

I know what you want... but, isn't it a partition? and also.. hierarchic grouping could be done using transform groups or whatever you branch select a model or a null and applying overrides on top of it.

Thats correct, If I want only certain objects in XSI to become recievers or a caster, The GI render fails to take this account, everything in the scene contributes to the effect. It is possible to use Groups, with Overides containing GI Caster/reciever flags, but this is unreliable...especially as multiple groups can contain the same object within it...is it to confuse XSI
i.e. a grid can be located within a group set up as a reciever and a caster, but also in a group that has the visible flag turned off. Would be great if XSI could create a a special group that could only contain a unique object.

Saf.. you're saying that the gi transmitter and receiver flags don't update properly when they are in partitions or groups? I can't recall coming across this, though it has been a few months since I've done any GI rendering
