I got it direct from HP. Strange story; I couldn’t find anything at that spec on their site but when I did a price compare search it came up with this. I bought and paid for it and then mysteriously it disappeared completely. It’s a Q6600 core 2 quad, 3Gb, 2x 500Gb disks, one hot-swap which is kind of handy, and the Nvidia 8800 GTS.

Kim,

If you don't mind me asking, who did you buy the system from?  I'm currently looking at a new system and one of the key issues I have is noise and heat generation. I have a Boxx dual Xeon WS I bought about 3-4 years ago and it gives off loads of heat (makes the room very warm!). It is also quite noisy compared to my single dualcore Dell next to it.

Many Thanks,

Alan

I've got the same spec machine and i use both XSI 64bits and 32 bits with no probs, I can even load the scenes from one to another as long as there aren't any plugins or shaders specific to the 64bits version.

Although I am not using Vista but XP 64.

Licensing with a dongle hasn't been an issue either.

My problem is more the other stuffs that don't run on 64bits like Quicktime Player, Flash Player, not sure if they are any wifi cards 64 bits yet, etc, etc...

And obviously not all shaders come in the 64bits flavour, other than that a dual quad rocks....

I’ve just taken delivery of a 64 bit core 2 quad. Are there any issues with a) installing and running 64bit and 32bit XSI both and b) dongle and licensing on 64 bit. I’ve got 32 bit xsi going but it’s playing silly buggers with the dongle (USB).

Isn’t Vista security like being back in nappies again.
