Ok, upping the ante here (for what purpose I don’t know)

Did my first computer animations on an Atari 800 with PM animator.

3D was making the sprite larger/smaller

Not 3D or animation but also have a (really cheesy) computer pic from 1984 made on the Atari and a Koala drawing pad

Hey Stephen,
that sounds pretty familiar to me! Made my first steps in 3D in 1988 with PM v1 on a Olivetti 286/16 with a 16bit frame buffer (only). 16.000 polys and 30.000 points if I remember correctly? 16 groups and rock solid batch scripting...  :-)

HA! got ya beat. My first animations wer

on a 286/16 with 40MB hard drive running CubiComp PictureMaker

we would lay down frames, one at a time, to a 3/4 SP machine

through a 422 controler card that did one frame insert edits.

We also had to walk to work...in the snow...up hill...both ways.  ;)

Yes, we are all old here...and I'm sure I'm not the oldest... but when our 3D animation business started we worked our first few months on a Compaq 286/33

To give you an idea of how old I am...

I used Softimage 3D version 1.0

It's come a long way.

Yes. The first adventure game was text based

called ADVENT (for adventure)

read about it here:

It was further enhanced by Don Woods. I went to highschool with him.

We used to play the game on a Digital PDP-8 mainframe computer.

Ahhh...the good old days...lol

Video game or computer game? Games like chess, draughts were around before video games and I’m pretty sure the first text adventure game was around way before too.

2008/1/7, Norm Olsen <nrg_alpha(at)hotmail.com>:

1. Who is nicknamed the father of videogames?
A. Ralph Baer

This is only part of the answer.. many hail Nolan Bushnell as one of the 'Fathers of videogames' as well.. I have even read him as being dubbed the Godfather of videogames.

Here's the wiki write-up on him:
