Subject : "Sample displacement before rendering"... is there a downfall to disabling this?
Hello everybody,

Apparently there is no mention of this option ("Sample displacement
before rendering" under the Optimization tab in Renderer Options) in
the XSI manuals, so I don't know for sure what exactly it's for or why
it's ON by default.
Oh great all-knowing mailing list, I kindly summon thou powers!!
......What is this option for? Is there a downfall to disabling it?

It appears to cut down rendertime (when using displacement) by about
half when it's off, while seemingly not affecting the quality at all
whatsoever, but maybe I haven't tested it enough.

I was about to add a note about this on my "faster displacement by
optimizing" tutorial I posted on xsibase a few days ago, but wanted to
confirm if there was any downside to it.
