Hi Kris,

seems you´re having XSI 6.02/XSI6.5 installed in both the
32bit and 64bit versions, right?

How about the setenv.bat

Did you make sure you have separate user folders set?

By default, both the 32bit and 64bit versions would point to this:

set XSI_USERROOT=%SystemDrive%\users\%USERNAME%

There is an obvious chance this might be not so good, aka bad.
How about installing each version of XSI with a separate user folder?

Another thing that would fit to XSI hanging at start-up would the services file, could be that the mR ports (likely 7003, 7004, 7050) or the mR ray(sat) services themselves got bent to malfunction due to multiple installs. One way to check this would be to search and open the services file (wininstallationdir\system32\drivers\etc), check for any mi-ray, mi-raysat and mi-spm entries and make sure there is no doubles with different port settings, like two entries for mi-spm one at 7050/tcp and one at 7051/tcp or stuff like that.

Usually, XSI hangs at startup when it tries to find satellites
but the firewall or windows share settings prevent connections
to machines listed in the .ray3hosts file, the ports listed in
both the services and the .ray3hosts file must be flagged open
by your windows firewall (you´d want to set scope to subnet only, tho).

If you´re unsure about editing the services file, check for files in the
\etc folder with the .backup extension, xsi will create those during
install, so you can trace your steps in reverse to a point prior to any XSI installs done. I´m not sure if simply uninstalling XSI also cleans
the services file.

Cheers

I'm wondering if I can get a little help on this. I have a WinXP Pro64bit
machine. Recently, my 32bit version of XSI stopped running. I basically
get a splash screen and then it just freezes forever with the UI not fully
loaded. I think this may be due to some weird DVD driver issues that I had
to fix via a little registery hacking. Thats around when I noticed 32bit
XSI wouldn't start but I can't confirm. So far I've dont just about
everything...upgraded graphics driver, reinstalled XSI, deleted user prefs,
etc. XSI 64bit runs just fine. XSI 32bit v6.02 and v6.5 will not work. I
have reported this to support but I'm hoping someone here might be able to
shed a little more light on my problem. Any ideas?
