PNY QuadroFX 1700, 512 MB (GeForce 8600 GT) ~ 430 Euros (incl. VAT)

PNY QuadroFX 4600, 512 MB (GeForce 8800 GTX) ~1735 Euros (incl. VAT)

PNY QuadroFX 5600 1.5 GB (GeForce 8800 GTX) ~2515 Euros (incl. VAT)

in terms of just getting certified drivers, the QuadroFX 1700 then.

If you have the chance or willingness to actually test the hardware, you could also give any of the GeForce 8800 GT (G92 chip) consumer cards a try, they come at prices around 220 Euros (incl. VAT) for 512MB.

The performance difference (in games, e.g. heavy scenes) between
a 8600 GT and a (G92) 8800 GT is pretty huge. Which could still
be neglected when all you want is reliable, working performance.

imho, it´d be QuadroFX 1700 then, if it has to be a Quadro.

Hi list,
here we go again.
What would be your recommendations for a pro graphics card without
paying top crazy price for an Quadro FX5600 ?
It would be used for all XSI general tasks ( model, anim, sim etc...) on
medium to heavy scenes.
I read from older posts that the Quadro FX 4600 has good all round
performance.
What about ATI cards ? Anyone using those ?
Is there still a huge performance/stability gap with Geforce cards ?
Thanks in advance ,
