Not to hog this thread but:
does anyone know if using two cards link with the sli "thingy" makes a difference in xsi, and does it make enough of a difference to warrant the extra cost. I'm looking into the dell xps m1730 and they have an option to run two graphics cards with sli, but I've never tested the sli theory in xsi

Sorry, meant to add, the geforce 8800 cards are ok, but the opengl performance is pretty bad, and they do run hot. I ended up swapping out my 8800gtx and don't regret it.

    Hello fabrice!

The 4600 has got a decent rep, but the newest firegl ati cards
    (v5600, v7600, v8600) are beating it in performance and price - I
just don't know anyone who's using them with xsi to comment on the
    display drivers etc.

Is it for the company or personal? I picked up a dirt cheap quadro
4500 on ebay, always one option :)

    cheers

Hi list,
here we go again.
What would be your recommendations for a pro graphics card
without paying top crazy price for an Quadro FX5600 ?
It would be used for all XSI general tasks ( model, anim, sim
etc...) on medium to heavy scenes.
I read from older posts that the Quadro FX 4600 has good all
round performance.
What about ATI cards ? Anyone using those ?
Is there still a huge performance/stability gap with Geforce
cards ?
Thanks in advance ,
F.
