I've dropped ZOP'ing in the last while, though old habits die hard and I
Z in orthos and P in perspective.. yeah.. yeah.. I know P in perspective
haha..
I've hybridized the two. I do find myself ALting more and more, but the
thing I don't like is how when doing things like painting weights or
smoothing, alt for smoothing becomes unusable and smooth painting is not an
option to key map.
I like the space bar, using f12 to max min viewports is soo unrealistic
unless your hands ar as big as Shaq's or you WANT some form of rsi
I have a hybrid keymap I've built that I think is the best of both
worlds. For the last training project I did with Avid, I broke down the keymap
between Maya and XSI respectively and torched all of the old, or useless key
bindings.
For Maya, accesssing components using the function keys is too out of the
way, and XSI's raycasting hotkeys are in the perfect place re: accessibility.
O and P in XSI are moot if you use the S key to nav, so I got rid of
those. Because I use WER more and more for transforms, I had to move the edge
select tool over to O and point select to P.
P for parenting if using the QWERTY toolset is one dimensional, so '?'
wins out for me to parent. I like parenting functionality in XSI, and for the
life of me don't know why I scream like I've been sacked every time I try to
parent things in maya.
Painting in QWERTY is not even assigned, but the B key with the QWERTY
tools is free, so B and CTRL B are assigned for brush properties.
anyways, if anyone is interested, I have an addon for what I perceive to
be the most efficient binding for both Maya and XSI users assuming they are
using QWERTY and Alt for base control.
Of course, these only reflect my opinion, and I'd be interested in seeing
what others have hacked out.
