Thanks for the tip Steven. I will see if I have V3 of the shatter lying around. Otherwise I will have to do it the Maya way. I don't use Maya myself yet, although I guess I will have to look deeper into the dark side soonish. I think I will ask one of my Maya slaves to make some nice shattered glass for me and not reveal it is difficult to do in XSI ;)

I have done quiet a few shattering effects in XSI and I found the best thing was to use the earlier version of the shatter script (v3). It uses booleans to create much more appealing fragments, it can be a touch unreliable but the result is worth it. I usually do it in sections radiating out from the centre of the impact or explosion. It does keep UV's which is handy too.

You could also just use Maya and export the geo. It has a really nice shatter tool built in.

I am working on breaking glass sort of realistically. I have tested Michele Sandronis Shatter and it produces very regular shaped fragments. Does anyone know of a system or tool for XSI that does it more like Blastcode or perhaps a standalne app that can produce the geometry so I can import it?

It is for still work so I don't really need dynamics, although it might help adding complexity, but the most important thing is to model cracked glasspieces with nice texturable fracture surfaces.
