The mindthink tools 3.0 (R.I.P) had a good scatter with uv propagations and animation offset. Would Helge repack it as a single tool?

2008/2/27, Morten Bartholdy <xsi(at)colorshopvfx.dk>:
Basically it would be really nice to be able to have a workflow similar to
applying instances from a group and have the best of particle distribution
and hair orientation controls, and still be able to edit each duplicate
locally when desired. Felix Gebhardts duplicator does a nice job of
randomising positioning, scale and rotation, while maintaing upvector
controls. Unfortunately it is difficult to get UV's from each copy on the
duplicate mesh, but the interactivity when tuning random parameters is nice.
A control for avoiding intersecting duplicates would be nice too. Much of
this is possible with particles and hair, but I can't get local control over
hair instances and particle instances take CGS plotting to get local
control, and then interactivity with general position, rotation, scale and
random parameters is lost. Using weigthmaps or texturemaps to control areas
for duplication/growth is good too, as well as for controlling size. Another
use for weightmaps could be if one could use instances from several groups,
then control the mix with a weightmap. I am thinking for instance for
creating stuff like a forest where I have areas where different types of
trees are predominant but still somewhat mixed with other types.

Actually the old venerable Soft 3D volume duplicate is an example of a
simple function that takes several steps to do now with particles - it could
be soo much simpler to do.
