In fact I used/use hypergraph for about 2 years and yes it's way better then XSI schematic. It boost productivity immensely in maya because the Outliner is a piece of crap. And because of that you fall into a very linear workflow, where just the hypergraph can make things more accessible. You can do less in the Outliner than you do in the XSI schematic view (parenting and selecting basically).
What we need now is a way of connect parameters on a nodal based interface, but I don't think this is something for the schematic as it's just a high-level-scene-overview type of thing...
Don't get me wrong, I think an update in the schematic would be great (specially for
technical users). Be able to drag constraints would be great, API access, decent sorting algorithms... yes I want that!! Now consider that 90% don't need the schematic at all :( This is why I said that these improvements are in the end of my list...

Call again when you'll be able to connect and reconnect those constraints and tweak them by clicking and dragging then dropping an entry point in the schematic, or after having picked up somebody else's work only to find out 600 items sorted out horizontally.
We all have different priorities, that's a given, but if you think some tweaks to the schematic wouldn't boost productivity immensely, you might never have used a better graph editor, or probably never had to pick up a scrambled one off somebody who didn't bother painfully re-ordering things piece by piece while creating them, which incidentally is not an option when your rigs are created procedurally, since api access to the schematic is flatlined.

Hey Alan, Yes I use to see relations in the viewport when rigging... specially in the early stage of rigging. Just to point that you can have the same feedback in the shematic. You have a more open view of your scene, constraints, relations and envelopes, all flat in a 2d view.
Attached an screencap of a rigging I'm working on right now... This thing has lots of constraints so It's easy for me to manipulate all that in the schematic. And I'm happy I can select many constraints at the same time in the schematic, without need to open every object in the explorer.
Anyway if someone ask me what Softimage should focus on... Schematic improvements would be in the end of my list
cheers
