Never?  Of all the games possible, you cite the one that is notoriously slow with all the bells and whistles turned on.  I haven't had any problems with Unreal Tournament 3 or Medal of Honor 4 - which are both amazing to look at on an up to date video card.  I mean, really, to the point I felt like I had to pinch myself.  An amazing job was done on these two titles.

I guess the point is that the technology is there, it's cheap, and everyone can easily imagine the possibilities if it were implemented by SoftImage...

since when have we not needed to jump through hoops to get a 'next gen'
game to run ? ;)

I get 7fps from Crysis with DOF (on my $300 gfx card). real time my arse.

The jitter type dof from steven's link wouldn't be difficult at all to
implement in a custom pass and i think i'm up for the challenge,
besides
i need a break from this damn screen painting doobrey.
