I tested the jitter idea in xsi (it was rubbish). i think going with a
post process on the gpu would give decent results so, after completing
my toon paint doobrey (screen shot of current progress attached) i'll
dig out my gpu gems books and have a propper go.

The 3D viewports we have are so behind the times of what the hardware
allows these days. There should be no reason why xsi's display
shouldn't have AA, Motionblur, DOF, Fog, Soft Shadows, etc. It's all
waiting to be used and I hope in coming versions XSI starts making use
of GPU power more and more.
