Beer should taste like beer. 

If you mess with the ingredients too much you just get things like domestic American brands like Budweiser that use rice.  Or other formulations that aren't designed to enhance flavor but boost profits.  It's crap.

Then there are of course other horrendous concoctions like Zima,  Tequiza (beer with lime and tequila flavoring - yuck) or Malt Liquor which tastes awful but has so much alcohol in it you only need 1.  Good for budget minded college kids, bad for brain cells.  Believe me I know.

Beer, keep it simple.

Are you saying the german purity law is a good thing?

If anything, it's killed a lot of good beers (lots of smaller sub
varieties etc) and ensured all german beers taste more or less the
same, all that in the name of saving wheat...
It doesn't mean that the beer you're drinking is actually "pure" or
better by any means...

It's actually fantastic that brewers are now ignoring that silly act
and starting to produce more beer there with a bit more character to
them.
