Rendermap and Zbump was Re: pink rendermaps

as pink rendermaps sound like a bug.

I just discovered that Zbump bumps are not showing up in rendermap?!?

Haven't digged to the bottom, but I could reproduce it with a default grid and a simple fractal texture used as bump. (with "bumpmap" node = zbump in XSI v6.5 and 32 and 64 bit on x64 XP)

 

can anyone confirm?

 

Q: is rendermap a mental images or a softimage tool?

(just in order for rants to be adressed appropriately)

maybe I have been doing something wrong, but for the last year whenever I try to make a rendermap, XSI either ignores me and just doesnt do it or provides me with a pink map.. I reckon this has happened about 75% of the times I have tried to create a rendermap...

 

the most annoying thing is that I tend to use rendermaps to bail myself out of tight corners when people are waiting for passes.

 

this used to be a really reliable tool.. now i am not so sure :( anyone else have this problem?
