Couple of days ago I did fail rendermappig 4K Ambient Occlusion, on rigged character, no use muting envelope and lattices. 2K Normal map and 1K displacement. What I did was duplicated mesh, freezed, exported as emdl. On New scene started from low, 256 pix duplicating reso until 4K, everything was fine. I was again supprised the cpu time it took with 2 slaves. So if you had any kind of operators on mesh including envelope I might start removing them, export-import trick ofcourse fixes geo if something was wrong with the mesh. 4K occlusion was overkill and would have downscaled anyway, just wanted to know what was wrong, I hope it helps.

I've seen how rendermap works in one of the tutorials and tho't being so
cool to try it out.
Never was able to get the same result, I chucked it. Very feeble.

maybe I have been doing something wrong, but for the last year whenever
I try to make a rendermap, XSI either ignores me and just doesnt do it
or provides me with a pink map.. I reckon this has happened about 75% of
the times I have tried to create a rendermap...
the most annoying thing is that I tend to use rendermaps to bail myself
out of tight corners when people are waiting for passes.
this used to be a really reliable tool.. now i am not so sure :( anyone
else have this problem?
</rant>
oh and yes i know some might say a "pink rendermap" is very fitting for
me... (hides)
