Max trial is out, people have tried it, but it crashes their computer.  They say it is a glorified service pack without great new features.  Believe Max is going to take over the Viz program and ArchViz will be the primary target.
Vray SP2 will come out shortly for compatibility.

Vray is available for XSI if you email Chaosgroup...
