You might want to run Filemon.

Note that you need administrative privileges to run that.
Set the filter to XSI.exe, enable Log Opens, Log Successes, Log
Errors, disable Log Reads, Log Writes. Then try accessing the network
shares.
It's no garanty it will help you find the problem, but it might give you a hint.
