minus the stack section out to branching tree, and instead as an op out to branching tree, thats whats coming as you may have seen in the ICE demos at SIGGRAPH etc.

Why couldn't you just have each stack section open a render tree like interface with a shader like node system to re-order things a bit. Then you have both a nodal based system and the current operator stack.
