So next test will be CentOS 5.1,
and I cross my fingers that XSI will work with that one.
No need doing that, it works just fine. Although I have not yet done production work on it yet, but as of now I see no restrictions to do so. Testing went all fine with CentOS 5.1
Maya 2008, all cool too.

What is your timeline for testing and deployement and what versions of what
softwares will you want to run?

XSI 6.5, Maya 2008, python 2.5, python-mysql, wxpython-2.8
timeline: needs to be working within 2 weeks.

Those are the main ones that we need to be compatible. So far
everything except XSI is working fine with FC8, but we had to ditch
the idea since we need XSI to run. So next test will be CentOS 5.1,
and I cross my fingers that XSI will work with that one. The problem
we run into is that current "supported" linux versions has reached
their EOL a while back and we can't get them to run properly on these
new machines.

In a perfect world XSI 7.0 would be out now, since we are a new XSI
house and have only one project delivered with 6.5 we could easily
switch over and start the hole thing with 7.0. But who know when that
one will arrive, or in which linux world it will live in.
I have high hopes though and keeping fingers, toes, legs, arms and
eyes crossed that it will be amazing :)

Haven't heard anything from support yet... something tells me they are
only going to point me towards the softimage page :)

stefan
