I am looking for info about mixed pipelines. I am changing out my
workstation as a test machine to 64bit environment(rendering & comping).
It will be 2x quad core xeon cpu system with 16gb of ram. So makes no
sense to run 32bit OS on that machine.
Although some workstations will remain as 32bit systems for time
being(texturing, modeling) plus farm is 32bit for some time anyway.
I know that custom shaders for example should be compiled for 64bit. But
what about scene authoring. If same shaders of 64bit equivalents from
32bit are installed on system and I open 64bit scene on 32bit xsi, will
I be able to render? To what extent compatiblity works between 32bit and
64bit world?
I hope that it is not like one needs to lift whole studio in one step to
another platform.
