yeah, that freaking table couldn't be less user friendly. I've sent piles of requests about the the delta thing and all these annoying tables... I do hope to see some polished tools for refmodel management in the next release
(even after I've coded my own tools for that).

What happen is that you are trying to do some operation with the Refmatlib, which is not going to happen.
So just remove the entry from the delta and refresh the model and the original material will be restored.

i accidentally added a material from my local defaultLib to a mesh that is referenced. if i try to re apply its original material through the normal means. drag and drop material to the object or render>material>assign materia i get this error message...
# ERROR : 2087 - The object: Sources.Materials.C_TownCrier__DefaultLib_Ref.blue is locked. Application.CopyPaste("Sources.Materials.C_TownCrier__DefaultLib_Ref.blue", "", "C_TownCrier_H-4-Export_.Mesh_X_Pants_Pc-Sd0_", 1)
or
# ERROR : 2087 - The object: Sources.Materials.C_TownCrier__DefaultLib_Ref.blue is locked. Application.AssignMaterial("Sources.Materials.C_TownCrier__DefaultLib_Ref.blue,C_TownCrier_H-4-Export_.Mesh_X_Pants_Pc-Sd0_", "siLetLocalMaterialsOverlap")
with editing the delta how do i return it to is original material? the single page in the documentation about referenced models and materials doesn't outline this scenario.
thanks steven
