The images are stored in memory on load and play realtime is off. We see that on at least two machines, both Windows 64bit. Personally I never noticed especially those small "blinks" in the framerate, one of our animators came up with that, and after doing some tests with linearily moving squares I'm pretty sure he is right. I'll give it a shot on a couple of other machines today.

I'll also check on your DMA suggestion, though I'm sure that all machines are installed properly, including the chipset driver.

Is this happening on several machines? On older machines there is this problem where without a chipset driver the DMA on the motherboard isn't performing correctly.  This happens after a machine wipe.

anyone else having problems with the Flipbook's performance? We can't
make it to playback a single image sequence on a constant 25fps
framerate. Somtimes the playback is really choppy, sometimes we only
notice the framerate to quickly blink once in a while when closely
looking at the actual framerate display (the number in brackets). The
sequences are short, less than PAL res, fitting perfectly well into
memory, V-Sync settings don't have any effect, and trying something like
30fps playback speed to better match the LCD's 60fps framerate (silly
idea I came up with this morning...) doesn't have any effect as well.
Basically I'm running out of ideas...
